Handling a Vinted dispute: reply and prove the shipment
A dispute is not always a scam. A damaged item, a delayed parcel or a vague description is enough. What makes the difference is the speed and quality of the evidence.

Why a dispute happens
A buyer can report an item not received, not as described, damaged or incomplete. Vinted then suspends the transaction and asks both sides to explain.
Most disputes settle with facts: photos, tracking, an accurate description. Emotional replies or off-platform promises almost always make things harder.
- Item not received or stuck with the carrier.
- Item different from the description or stated size.
- Item damaged in transit.
- A flaw that was not mentioned in the listing.
The evidence to keep
Evidence is prepared before shipping, not after a dispute. Take a few photos of the garment, the label and the sealed parcel. Keep the label and tracking number.
In the Vinted conversation, reply with facts and images. Do not delete messages, even if the exchange is unpleasant: context matters.
- Photos of the product and its flaws before shipping.
- A photo of the sealed parcel with the label visible.
- Tracking number and proof of drop-off.
- The original description and measurements in the record.
Reply on time
Read the exact reason before replying. Answer in the dispute conversation, not in another thread. Stay factual: what you sent, when, with which tracking, and what the photos show.
Do not refund outside Vinted. A direct transfer protects neither the buyer nor you, and it leaves the platform's process.
- Reply within the deadline Vinted gives.
- Attach the requested evidence, without flooding the case.
- Stay in the official conversation.
- Never offer a refund off-platform.
Possible outcomes
Depending on the reason and the evidence, Vinted may close the dispute in your favour, request a return, or refund the buyer. Timelines and return costs depend on the case and the carrier.
If the item comes back, check its condition before relisting. An updated record avoids a second dispute with the next buyer.
What Vintops does during a dispute
Vintops flags sales with an open dispute at the top of the dashboard. The record keeps the listing, the linked conversation, the label and the tracking in one place, so the evidence is easy to find.
The tool does not replace Vinted's decision or your reply. It just keeps you from losing the thread at the worst moment.
Checklist when a dispute arrives
The first steps, in order.
- Read the reason and Vinted's exact request.
- Find the record, label and tracking.
- Gather the pre-shipment photos.
- Reply calmly in the official conversation.
- Do not refund outside the platform.
